ABOUT District 97
DISTRICT 97 is undoubtedly the most musically adventurous rock band in the world to feature an American Idol Top 10 Female Finalist. Since 2008, this quintet from Chicago has melded an adventurous, uncompromising instrumental prowess with the look, sound, and stage presence of vocalist Leslie Hunt.
Through world tours and a stream of studio and live releases, the band has garnered a worldwide fanbase; collaborating with the iconic late singer/bassist John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia, UK) and Mike Portnoy (drummer of Dream Theater/Transatlantic), while drawing praise from Bill Bruford (drummer of Yes/King Crimson/Genesis) and other rock luminaries along the way.
DISTRICT 97 rehearses doggedly to refine their compositions, ensemble-playing, and stage presentation; their standards for excellence have only grown more rigorous with the passage of time. Their latest studio album SCREENS (released October 2019) and its accompanying live shows set a high watermarkof composition and musicianship. The covid-19 pandemic didn’t stop the band from innovating. Their Virtual Screening Tour, expansive live SCREENPLAY 2CD set (released 2021), and the stunning Ghost Girl animated short film kept them at the top of the current prog rock heap. Best of all, D97 is back onstage dazzling audiences worldwide and will unleash Stay for the Ending, their fifth studio album in October 2023.
ABOUT Outrun The Sunlight
Hailing from Chicago, instrumental progressive metal outfit, Outrun the Sunlight, has been creating music since 2011. In the vein of The Contortionist meets Russian Circles, the group has strived to combine strong soaring melodies, complex rhythm, and compelling dynamics into songs that elect emotional and euphoric responses from audiences. Their latest album “A Vast Field of Silence” is no exception, and includes some of the band’s most ambitious yet mature writing to date. The follow up, a re-issue of their debut album, uniquely titled “The Return of Inertia 2.0” shows the bands heavier side, a la early Animals as Leaders, but breathes new life into songs they originated from. The brainchild of guitarist Austin Peters, the group includes Phil Kalas on bass, Luke Angle on drums, Ken Stebliy on guitar, and Kyle Kunkler contributing synths and soundscapes to the groups atmosphere.
